Corporate Clients

From national organizations to international corporations, both small and large, DGA has assisted corporate clients on a broad range of climate change planning scenarios.
- DGA worked with the Board of Allianz SE — one of the world’s top five insurance and financial services companies — to analyze the scientific and strategic impacts of climate change on its industry. DGA helped the executive communications team craft effective messages to stakeholders on the company’s proactive approach to serving clients in the face of an uncertain global climate. DGA gave Allianz the tools it needed to ensure that it was properly prepared for business in a low-carbon world: possible new insurance markets, recommended risk assessment actions for the U.S. insurance industry, an assessment of differing political and public views on climate change in Europe and North America, and an in-depth assessment of climate science and the insurance industry. - For Nissan Motor Company, DGA reviewed and assessed the effectiveness of the Nissan Green Program 2010 from the perspectives of three key North American stakeholder groups: investors, citizens, and government policymakers. Working with the COO, chief environmental engineers, and a range of other executive decision-makers, DGA provided strategic advice to the company on how to craft the program while maintaining alignment with Nissan’s brand, core values, and niche markets.
- Pearson USA commissioned DGA to develop and implement a Roadmap to Climate Neutrality. The three-year plan of action set measurable benchmarks, timelines, and goals for the company to: develop a GHG footprint that is in line with global standards; develop a cost-curve for GHG emission reductions to determine the most cost-effective (and revenue-generating) means of reaching carbon neutrality; create financial policies to align corporate capital investment decisions with Pearson’s climate change goals; construct the internal management teams to manage GHG reduction strategies from energy efficiency, sales and executive fleet fuel efficiency, and IT solutions; and communicate the plans both internally and externally. The Roadmap development process included meetings with over 30 key stakeholders to ensure buy-in and quick implementation. Having developed the Roadmap, DGA is working with Pearson to implement the plan.
- DGA worked closely with the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) to build support for the Energy Efficient Codes Coalition (EECC) and its call for a 30% improvement in residential energy efficiency by 2009 and carbon neutrality in new homes and buildings by 2030. NAIMA, a key voice in this coalition, has sought the support of large insurance companies (a sector long focused in the development of building codes toward the goal of loss reduction) in an effort to bring about immediate energy efficiency changes in the International Energy Conservation Code. DGA helped NAIMA secure the endorsement of the Fireman’s Fund – the first large insurance company to take such an ambitious step. Read more about the Fireman’s Fund’s endorsement.
- DGA facilitated the Ceres Electric Sector/Investor Dialogue, a coalition of eight electric power companies with approximately $55 billion in annual revenues; nine investment funds representing over $190 billion in assets; two investment advisory firms; and five major public interest and environmental groups. The results of the dialogue included recommendations for the public and private sector to address climate change. Read more about the Dialogue.

DGA has advised and trained leading corporations on the development, implementation, and communication of climate change strategies. For Ceres, DGA facilitated a discussion with 19 corporations (including 12 in the S&P 500) on how companies develop climate strategies. DGA has also conducted one-on-one climate strategy trainings for senior executives at companies like HewlettPackard, Boston Coach, and Con Edison.
